apple watch walking versus driving taps

Is anyone getting a different right turn ahead tap when driving as opposed to walking? When using walking directions I get the 12 taps for a right turn (3 for left). When driving I get 3 taps for a right hand turn and its hard to tell the difference between a left hand and right turn ahead. Apple support state it should driving and walking should be the same, and nothing in the manual about driving or walking directions.
